Azalea Festival

I'm going to the Landon School Azalea Festival in Bethesda tomorrow.
It will be my first time at this advent and I'm really looking forward to it.
Let's hope the weather cooperates. For more information, you can go

Cheryl's cat likes to play fetch. Here is a very brief video showing showing him bringing back his "catch" for her to throw again.

Spring is here in Maryland at last!

I took this photo from the car while waiting for the light
to change leaving the shopping center two days ago.
Cheryl has a shady yard and her daffodills are still going
strong. In Fresno the tulips finished in March.

Chicken lays a strange egg!

Oops, someone had a problem with their egg laying the other day.
Cheryl found the tiny egg. The next day there was the really large egg.
We don't know if this is a common occurance or not, but it was a first
for us in all the time the hens have been laying. We are still getting
about six eggs a day. Neighbors benefit from all the egg production!

Filoli Gardens

A trip to Filoli gardens the day before I headed home was a real treat.
The weather was perfect and there were hordes of people visiting. We
left to go to lunch and then returned when the crowds had dispersed
a tiny bit. There are more pictures on my webshots site. The lighting
was not perfect, but seeing the wisteria and tulips was a delight.

Carmel Mission

Wow, I hadn't been here in Spring for about twenty years. I
usually go in February to celebrate my birthday, but going in
the Spring is well worth another trip. Lots of changes taking
place as they restore various areas of the grounds and buildings.
Double click on the collage to enlarge the photos so you can see
them better. Here is the link to a slideshow of all of my pictures:

Pictures from Palo Alto

During my trip to California I made it over to Palo Alto.
I loved looking at the flowers at the Stanford Mall and
the lovely Allied Arts complex nearby. All the flower
beds were so beautiful. I couldn't have asked for
better weather. I love Wisteria and it was in bloom.

Pacific Grove & Carmel, California

A Monarch butterfly in the butterfly sanctuary in Pacific Grove

The pretty flowers at Carmel Plaza. They had remodeled the
entire Plaza since I was there two years ago.

Walking along the beach path we came across this log---we wondered
if this marked the spot where John Denver's plane crashed.
