Cherry Blossom Festival

I made it to the Cherry Blossom Festival today. I hitched a
ride with David into the city and got there at 8:30. A lot
of dedicated people actually get there for sunrise. There
were photographers with huge cameras and tripods everywhere
you looked. The distance around the Tidal Basin is 2.1 miles.
I spent from 8:30 to 11 am. and then caught the metro home.
The crowds were really growing as I was leaving. It was going
to become more and more difficult to walk the narrow walkways.

Sunday at Cheryl's House

Faith can spend hours looking for frogs and other creatures in
the creek.

Saturday and Sunday no work got done on the remodel due
to the rain and mud. Hopefully next weekend will be better.

The creek was running really clear as a result of about one inch
of rain the day before.

Leopard Frog

We saw this leopard frog in the creek when Cheryl was busy trying
to line the creek with rocks to prevent erosion. The rocks also add to
the beauty of the creek. A huge pile of rocks was on the property
when they purchased it nine years ago. Slowly but surely they have
been using them all up on improvements around the property.

Cats Galore!

Pretty shots of just some of Cheryl's cats on Sunday.
David was fixing something with tuna in it and it drew a
big audience.

California Bound

I'm heading to California in April and will be making a quick
trip over to Carmel.

I always love to take a leisurely drive thru 17-Mile Drive.
The views are magnificent and I like to stop along the way
at all the view points.

I never miss stopping at the Carmel Mission. It is my favorite California mission.

Cheryl's Remodel

After many delays they finally got their building permit and
started work on the foundation for the extension of the house.
Everything was delayed until the sewer hookup was completed.

Chickens

Faith

Time keeps marching on and they grow up right before your eyes.
It was a nice day and Cheryl and I were outside letting the chickens
free range when Faith got home from school. She was looking
for frogs in the creek under the bridge. We had spotted a
leopard frog just awhile before she got home.

First Sign of Spring!

While running an errand with Cheryl this morning we saw
this spot of color and stopped to check it out. It was only
9:30 am so the crocus were not open yet. I probably won't
make it back to see them in their full glory since they were
a 30 minute drive from my place. I bet they will be a
beautiful sight!

STRANGE WEATHER
This was taken Monday, March 2, 2009. It is the parking lot outside my condo.
By Friday the temperature was in the low70's and Sunday it was 79.

Monday, March 9, 2009

Faith joined us in the yard when she got home
from school.

It was a nice sunny day and we let the chickens
out to free range for awhile. They just love
digging in the dirt and leaves. Amazingly enough
they don't mind the water.

Last Fall Cheryl and I discovered this store on our way to
the Waterford Fair in Virginia. We loved it so much----it
keeps calling to me to come back. Although I don't have a
need for most of the items due to the size of my condo,
I still love to go look and fantasize about where I would
put things if I did have a large house. You can check
out their website at http://www.luckettstore.com/

I'm just learning how to just the video feature of my camera, so bear with me. It seemed like no matter where I stood they were coming right at me. I would have to jump out of the way.

On Sunday afternoon we went for a hike in a park nearby. Most of the snow had melted, but it was muddy. We found some small branches that had beaver teeth marks on them. Cheryl said about five years ago you could drive to this part of the creek. Now you have to hike in.

Monday was the big storm and all the schools were closed. I have the perfect slope right next to my condo and Cheryl and Faith came over when it stopped snowing and went sledding. When David got off work he came over and shoveled the snow near my car so I could get it out. Then he joined in the fun.

David took this video of Faith when they were on a ski trip last year. Faith was just learning to ski and was doing great!
